Fast Treatments, Long Lasting Results

Pigmentation

Treat skin discolouration, freckles, sunspots and even birthmarks.

Solar lentigo (eg, actinic lentigo, senile lentigo, sun spot, liver spot) is the most common benign sun-induced lesion that occurs in sun-exposed areas. Solar lentigo most commonly appears on the face, arms, dorsa of the hands, and upper part of the trunk. The spots initially are smaller than 5 mm in diameter. The surface of the lesions is either flat or depressed, and it may be split by fine wrinkles.

The lesions are usually brown, but the color may range from yellow-tan to black. Older lesions are often dark brown or brownish black. Solar lentigines slowly increase in number and in size. Many lesions eventually coalesce to form larger patches. Although these lesions are most common in individuals aged 30-50 years, they are now seen in younger individuals because of their increased exposure to sun tanning and the use of artificial sources of UV light. Although they are often called liver spots, they are not a manifestation of systemic disease

Laser Pigmentation Therapy

Skin Therapy is an innovative way to quickly, safely and comfortably remove sun and age spots from your face, chest, arms and hands, without gel or topical anesthetics. The signs of sun damage will flake off after one or two treatments, leaving clear, younger looking skin.

What areas can be treated?

Virtually any part of your body with sun and age spots or freckles can be safely treated. The face, chest, shoulders and arms are the most popular areas for treatment because they have typically had the most sun exposure. Both discrete spots and skin densely covered with freckles respond well to treatment.

What does the treatment do?

The visible light delivered by the Solar Genesis procedure is selectively absorbed by the pigmentation on your skin. It’s the heating of the pigmented cells that causes the therapeutic effect.

Is it true that I’ll need to arrive an hour early to apply a numbing cream?

No. Unlike other systems, the Solar Genesis treatment requires no topical anesthetic or gels before treatment. Gel is messy, time consuming and uncomfortable. Solar Genesis therapy is the next generation in pulsed light treatments. No gel!

What do treatments feel like?

When the hand piece is placed on your skin, it will feel cool and comfortable. When the pulse of light is delivered, you may feel a mild, brief pinching sensation.

How long will the treatment take?

The actual treatment will only take a few minutes and since there is no need to apply gel or any topical anesthetic, your total appointment time can easily fit into your lunch hour.

How many treatments will I need?

Typically, one or two treatments are sufficient to see dramatic results. Additional treatments may be required for very large or dark spots or
for densely covered areas.

What happens after the treatment? Are there any side effects?

Immediately following the treatment, the spots may start to darken. You may notice a slight reddening of the surrounding skin. This typically subsides within a couple of hours. Over the course of the next one to three weeks, darkened spots will fade and flake off

Will the spots reappear over time?

No. New spots may appear. These too can be removed. Remember to liberally apply sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots.

Can all of my spots be treated this way?

Spots formed by sun exposure can effectively be treated with the Solar Genesis procedure. There are, however, other types of pigmented lesions, such as birthmarks and moles. Consult with your medical professional to identify the spots most likely to respond well to Solar Genesis Skin Therapy.

When will I see results?

Most patients find the majority of their treated spots have shown significant improvement within two to three weeks of treatment. However, your final result may not be apparent for a month or more.
